Schumacher will return to Formula 1

Finally it is officially confirmed: Michael Schumacher will join the Formula 1 Championship in 2010. Team Mercedes made the announcement in a press conference, held this morning at the Mercedes Factory in Brackley Northamptonshire. Since a few weeks already there were a lot of rumours that Schumacher would come out of his retirement to join F1 next to Nico Rosberg, but the news was only confirmed just now. Michael Schumacher has signed a deal worth €7 million to drive for Mercedes GP in 2010.

"After three years I have the energy back and I'm ready for some serious stuff," Schumacher said. "Mercedes Petronas represents a new challenge for me both in a sporting and personal context. It is a new chapter in my racing career and I am really looking forward to working with my old friend Ross Brawn and my companions from my days with the Mercedes Junior Programme."

Schumacher retired at the end of 2006 after winning 7 Drivers' World Championships, 91 victories, 154 podium finishes and 68 pole positions. The return of this legend will defenitely be a boost for Formula 1.
