MotoGP of Hungary will be replaced by Motorland Aragon

The official organisation of MotoGP, the FIM, just announced a change in the calendar of the MotoGP season 2010. The race at Hungary, that was supposed to be hosted by Balatonring, is now officially cancelled due to delays on the construction work at the venue. The construction cannot be completed in time, which made the FIM decide to postpone the race to 2011. The gap in the calendar will be filled with the MotoGP of Aragon at Motorland Aragon. This will be the fourth Spanish event this season. The race will be scheduled at the same date as Hungary initially would take place: 19 September 2010.

The proposal to introduce Hungary to the MotoGP Championship calendar was made already in 2008 by MotoGP rights holders Dorna Sports S.L. Dorna Sports asked the FIM for the inclusion of a Hungarian Grand Prix event on the 2009 calendar. The FIM was very enthusiastic, as the Hungarian people are big fans of MotoGP. The race would be hosted by the new to built Balatonring Circuit. Unfortunately Hungary was hit by the financial crises. In combination with a harsh winter, the Hungarian MotoGP promoters requested the postponement of the introduction of Hungary to the world of MotoGP. Although the event is now cancelled for the second time in a row,  the track still has a five-year agreement to host MotoGP races. The Ticket Enterprise will keep you posted about the situation regarding this event.
