Second win in a row - Hamilton is on fire!

After winning the Turkish Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton became unstoppable during the Canadian Grand Prix! He finished 1st with teammate Jenson Button coming in 2nd and making it the 3rd 1-2 finish of the season for the McLaren team. The podium was completed by Ferrari’s pride Fernando Alonso.

With teammate Button on his tail, Hamilton managed to maintain his lead at the start over Sebastian Vettel, Alonso and Mark Webber. Vettel and Webber were giving them a hard time though and Button was the 1st one to give up his position to Vettel, who was then pursuing Hamilton. Just before the last turn after the long straight, Hamilton decided to have his tires changed. Alonso also went to have his tires changed at that moment which gave Vettel and Webber the chance to lead the race. Hamilton and Alonso went out of the pits together with Alonso leading at first, but then being overtaken by Hamilton on the hairpin.

The hot weekend in Montreal was mainly a menace for the tires. The unexpected high temperatures and dry weather conditions made the tires wear down faster than usual. The ones that trusted on soft tires got in trouble within 7 laps. Button, Hamilton and Alonso all pitted for the harder Bridgestones. After that, Hamilton took the lead again from Vettel with Alonso pursuing him. Just when Alonso threatened to pass him, Hamilton went into the pits again with Alonso following shortly after that. With the exception of Webber, all drivers had their soft tires changed for hard ones. Webber was leading for a while, but got caught up in the group of Hamilton, Alonso, Button and Vettel. After Hamilton passed, Webber left for the pits. This made Hamilton lead the race again.

At the end of the race, Hamilton made sure he had a 2 seconds lead over his rivals. Alonso had to give his 2nd position to Button who gave McLaren a double victory. Due to problems with his car, Vettel could not pass Alonso and finished 4th in front of Webber. The rest of the points went to Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica, Sebastien Buemi, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil. Michael Schumacher just missed the last points paying position by finishing 11th.

Schumacher did not do well at all during the Canadian Grand Prix. He was forcing some of his rivals into places where there was no space. He also risks a penalty for 2 incidents he was involved in. These incidents will be further investigated.

McLaren is now op top in both Championships. Hamilton is leading the drivers Championship with 109 points and McLaren is leading the constructors Championship with 215 points.

Hamilton is also happy for McLaren: “The race was probably one of my toughest races so far, but another 1-2 for us made me very happy and proud of the team.”

Will one of his rivals put out Hamilton’s fire? Or will Hamilton and teammate Button be able to defend McLaren’s strong title? With the F1 tickets you can order at The Ticket Enterprise you can see it for yourself during the Grand Prix of Europe, also known as Formula 1 Valencia
