Surprising 1-2 finish for Ferrari!

Ferrari claimed its 2nd 1-2 finish of the season at the German Grand Prix on Hockenheimring with Fernando Alonso taking the victory and Felipe Massa finishing 2nd. Pole starter and local favorite Sebastian Vettel took the final podium spot.

As Vettel and Alonso were fighting for the leading position at the start of the Formula 1 race, it was Massa who swept around the outside of Turn 1 and took the lead.
Massa was leading the Formula 1 race until Lap 49 with Alonso behind him. Vettel was running 3rd and Webber 4th while struggling with Button. Ultimately he was passed by Button and Hamilton which made him finish 6th. Hamilton had also passed his teammate which put him in 4th place and Button in 5th. After Lap 49 it seemed to the spectator as if Massa deliberately slowed down to let teammate Alonso pass.

Behind the leading drivers, Robert Kubica managed to finish 7th ahead of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. The final points paying position went to Vitaly Petrov.

It was chaos as Jaime Alguersuari ran into the back of Sebastien Buemi and both cars were forced to pit. Caught up in the incident were both Force India drivers Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi. All drivers, except for Sebastien Buemi who lost his rear wing, were able to get back in the race after the pits. Ultimately, Alguersuari finished behind Pedro de la Rosa in 15th place with Liuzzi behind him and Sutil in 17th.

Hamilton is holding on to his Formula 1 Championship lead as 4th place brought him to 157 points. Teammate Button moved to 143 points. Webber and Vettel are joint 3rd with 136 points. Alonso closed up on 123 points and Massa climbed to 85 points.
