The Italian MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli died last weekend, following a horrible crash at the Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang International Circuit. In the second lap of the race his bike was veered across the track, into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. They were not able to evade Simoncelli and hit him terribly. During the accident Simoncelli had his helmet knocked off. After the crash Simoncelli layed motionless on the asphalt. He was transported to the medical center at the track, but after 45 minutes of CPR (cardiac pulmonary resuscitation) the medical staff declared him death at 04:56pm (local time). He died of serious trauma to his head, neck and chest. Simoncelli was only 24 years old.
The race was red-flagged immediately and was completely cancelled when it became clear that 'Super-Sic' did not surive the accident. Edwards, who was transported to the hospital as well, dislocated his shoulder, but was not in danger of life. Valentino Rossi was able to reach the pit without injuries.
We are very sad about the loss of this talented rider. He will be missed. The Ticket Enterprise team would like to pass on our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. We wish them all the strength they need to deal with this tragedy. Our thoughts are with them.
